Some examples of boxes
From 1975 to 2011, Jill Culiner created boxes in which were displayed the scenes of daily life. Critical and sarcastic but also humorous, these boxes toured France and Germany for many years before finding a home in the former Hotel de la Boule d’Or. Visitors are more than welcome to come visit this “mini museum” by appointment.
Jill Culiner's work is ugly and vulgar. It’s the kind of art that tries to make you uncomfortable. All those horrible little characters in spinach green, blood red and nauseating pink. The people all resemble each other, which only shows that Madame Culiner doesn't know how to paint (sculpt). Okay, some find it funny…at some shows people laugh, spend hours looking at all the gags etc. But I'll bet that here, in our country of good taste and refinement, she won't sell even one of those works of hers. She can just send them all back to New York where she was born, put them in one of those museums of horrors, right next to Picasso and I don't know who else.
